5 Miles, 12 miles Who is Counting

Troop 1411 headed out on March 16 2011 for a five mile hike at Lake Houston Park in New Caney TX.

It ended up being a 12 mile hike but a good time was had by all.

The entire troop was there Eric Knight, Ean Lasseigne, JT Whiffan, John Beliek, (he informed us to call him John and not JOhnathon) David Mullens, Jacob Pena, Trevor Poeling, Travis Anderson and Quentin Mullens. They were led by the Roberts. Mr. Mullens and Pena.

Along the way they fulfilled their second class requirements 1a and 1b regarding maps compasses and a 5 mile hike. They also fulfilled Second class requirement 6 and first class requirement 6 which involves identifuying 10 species of animals and plants. Travis was first to notice evidence of a Beaver by looking at a a cut down tree.

For the newest scouts working towards Tenderfoot they fulfilled the buddy system requirement and safe hiking skills. They also learned what to do if you are lost.
